Obituary of Raymond E. Choquette

Choquette, Raymond E. Raymond E. Choquette, 77, of Manchester, husband of Alice M. Choquette, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, November 9, 2004. Born March 12, 1927 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, son of the late Robert and Odina Marie Choquette, he lived in Manchester since 1955 and was an active member of St. James Parish. Ray served in the US Army and Air Force from 1945 to 1946 then earned a BS in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford his entire career and retired from his position of Director of Quality Assurance in 1987. Ray was active in the Air Force Association serving as the Chapter President. During his retirement Ray served with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistants program from 1988 until 1997. His love of sports was evident to those who competed with and against him on many local softball teams, including local senior leagues, and to the many youngsters he coached. In addition to his wife he leaves a son Robert and daughter-in-law Erin (O�Brien) Choquette of Glastonbury and three daughters, Mary Alice Nadaskay and son-in-law Kris Nadaskay of Manchester and their daughter Amanda; Joanne Curley of Portland and her son Ryan and daughter Emily; and Catherine Provencal and son-in-law Donald Provencal of Bristol and their daughter Alison and son-in-law Shawn Gallagher, son Gregory and daughter Karen; his sister-in law Ruth Choquette of Quincy, Massachusetts, a brother-in-law Patrick Hoey of Floral Park, New York, eight nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Paul Choquette, his sister Lorraine Hicks and sister-in-law Catherine Hoey. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 13, 2004 at 9:15 a.m. from John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, to St. James Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. James Church, 896 Main St. Manchester, CT 06040.
