Obituary of William Louis Palmer

William Louis Palmer, 79, beloved husband of Norma (Gardella) Palmer, passed away on Saturday August 7, 2004 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Manchester on November 22, 1924, the son of the late Louis and Catherine (Ellis) Palmer and was a lifelong resident of Manchester. He Graduated from Manchester High School in 1943 and served in the Army Air Forces 1943-1946. Mr. Palmer retired from Pratt & Whitney in 1983 after 37 years. He was a former leader of Boy Scout Troop 47, past treasurer of the State PTA, a member of the local UNICO chapter and British American Club. Bill was a long time member of the Manchester Country Club, where he served on many committees. He was an avid golfer and duck pin bowler. He enjoyed woodworking and made many pieces of furniture and tree houses for his family. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, "Grampie,� brother, uncle and friend to all. He was loved and admired by all who knew him. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Sharon Young, Bill Palmer, Ken Palmer, Pat Palmer, Robbie Hennigan, Maia Magadini and Karla Hahn, a sister Eleanor Churilla and her husband Ed, brother-in-law Ed Giard, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis and Marjory Gardella, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, whom he adored and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Evelyn Palmer, Mary Crowley, and Catherine Giard and a daughter Melissa Magadini. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. There will be a celebration of Bill�s life on Friday August 13, 2004 at the Manchester Country Club at 11 am for family and friends.
