Charlie leaves his wife of 70 years, Alice Humphrey McCooe, his daughter Carol McNamara and her husband Paul, his son, Daniel McCooe and his wife, Susan, and daughter Mary DelTatto and her husband Charles. His grandchildren, Michael McNamara, Kathleen McGuire, KeriAnne Hoffman, Patrick and Ellen McCooe, and John, David and Cara DelTatto were the light of Charlie’s life. He doted on his great grandchildren Chloe, Holly and Nolan McNamara, Timothy McGuire, and Charlotte McCooe. Whenever Charlie spoke with his own children he always asked, “How are the kids? That’s what important!” Charlie was deeply proud of his Irish heritage. Alice often called him “I’” for Irish. His father and mother, John McCooe and Jane Keegan McCooe, immigrated to Manchester from Portadown, County Armagh, Ireland. Charlie attended Manchester Public Schools and worked at Pioneer Parachute. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. Charlie returned to Manchester to work as a meat cutter for the A&P Supermarkets and Highland Park Market until his retirement in 1985. Charlie lived the values of his faith by serving as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, delivering Meals on Wheels and as a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society. Charlie leaves his sister, Jeanette Bakanas of Bolton, CT. His brothers John, Joseph, Thomas and James McCooe and his sisters Catherine Wittke and Bernadette Madama predeceased him.
