Obituary of Bruce D. Fraser

Bruce D. Fraser, 52, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Brenda J. (Reid) Fraser, passed on Thursday, April 26th.  After his long, courageous battle with melanoma, he entered peacefully into the arms of the angels.  He was born in Hartford on November 14, 1965 and was the son of the late Robert D. Fraser and Janice Crochet.  He was predeceased by his brother, Andrew Fraser. He grew up in Tolland and in 1988, he met the love of his life, Brenda to whom he was happily married for over 26 years.  He moved to South Windsor in 1998 and enjoyed his home and "club house", where all were welcome to have a cold drink and play a competitive game of darts.  His passion for grilling and smoking food exuded and many were able to taste the delicious fruits of his labor.    Bruce worked for several years at Olympus, formerly known as Staveley Sensors in East Hartford, and then continued his career at P/A Industries, Inc. in October 2012.  His work family at P/A were very supportive during his medical leave and made a lasting impression on him and his wife.  For all of those who knew Bruce, he was a quiet man and a private soul.  He never wanted to be the center of attention, but valued a nice compliment for his hard work and his passion for knowledge.  He was proud of the fact that he had acute hearing and perfect eyesight at the age of 52 and hardly ever caught a cold.  He enjoyed playing poker with his buddies and loved to fish, hunt, and bowl.  Being an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and the Boston Celtics he had a great love and knowledge of the games.  He grew up in an era where the Dallas Cowboys were successful and chose them as his favorite football team.  He took great pride in them and always believed that once a fan of a team, to always be faithful - no matter how many wins or losses. Just like his philosophy in sports, he was a faithful husband and friend.  He loved cats and dogs and they loved him from the first time they met him, as he had this calm that exuded from within.  He looked forward to annual celebrations in his "club house" by hosting opening day fishing weekend and Cinco de Mayo was celebrated religiously in May.  His love of classic rock was known by all who stopped in for a beverage or two and he had fun with trivia of music as well.  Along with his wife, Bruce will be fondly remembered by his loving family:  brother Kerry Fraser, who became his angel when he moved back home from Missouri in December to help out while he was on medical leave; his uncle Ed Fennelly, cousins Ken Fennelly, Ed Fennelly, and Sue Lapinski and husband Frank,  His brother-in-law Chuck Reid and wife Debbie; sister-in-law Kate Dempsky; sister-in-law Joanne White and husband Michael; brother-in-law Ron Reid and wife Annie; and several nieces and nephews.  His wife would like to extend specials thanks to all of the people in the medical field who tried so desperately to help Bruce win the battle.  Also, thanks to all of their family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and special acquaintances who helped them out with outside chores and taking them to some of Bruce's appointments, being there to listen, offering their time, and especially for all that was done to make their lives more manageable.  Bruce's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street in Manchester followed by a small service, officiated by Rev.
