Obituary of Carl Lepak

Carl E. Lepak, 88, of Manchester passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday (May 5, 2004.) He was born February 5, 1916 in Moosup, CT. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Alice (Sufanarowski) Lepak. He was predeceased by his mother Amelia Lepak and a brother Felix Lepack. A devoted Father, Carl also leaves two sons and their wives, Raymond Lepak and his wife Karen of Manchester and Ron Lepak and his wife Kathy of Coventry. In addition, Carl leaves seven loving Grandchildren; Timothy Lepak of Farmington, CT, Darlene Borre and her husband Alex of Canton, MA, Paige Schwartz and her husband Jeffrey of Southport, CT, Cindy Lepak of Meriden, CT, Susan Galinat and her husband Justin of Cantebury, CT, Brian Lepak of Coventry, CT and Erin Lepak of Coventry. He leaves his great grandchildren Kevin & Kaila Galinat, Benjamin Borre, and was expecting a new great granddaughter in July (whose name he was secretly told.) He leaves a nephew Carl Lepack and his wife Cindy of Manchester, and also a niece, Carol Lepack of Hartford, along with many other nieces and nephews who adored him. Carl retired from Pratt & Whitney after 43 years of service as a machinist. He was a senior instructor during World War II. Soon after his retirement he became a highly respected instructor at Hartford Technical Institute in Hartford, CT for ten years. He enjoyed educating young people and sharing his knowledge. He loved baseball and was a star player with the Sun Set Hill team. All of his grandchildren and great grandchildren have loving memories. An avid sportsman, he was a bowling, golf and bocci league player well into his eighties. Anyone who new Carl would agree that he didnt have a cynical bone in his body. He trusted everyone. If a neighbor wanted to borrow a tool, hed give it to them to keep. If you mentioned you liked one of his creations (birdhouses, butterflies, mug holders, twirlers, reindeer) hed give you three. He was always positive in life and grateful for everything. He loved his wife, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and even grand dogs. He was always quick to point out how beautiful and clever and funny he thought you were. After visiting Grampa, you always left in a great mood. As a young man he saved the life of a drowning victim in Moosup Pond. One of Carls memorable accomplishments was the thrill of getting a "hole in one at Manchester Country Club last June at the age of 87. His funeral will be Monday, May 10, 2004, at 9:45 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street, Manchester; followed by a 10:30 Mass at St. James Church, Main Street, Manchester, burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
