Obituary of Robert F. Calhoun
Robert Francis "Bob" Calhoun, 74, of Manchester, and Sunkey Village Palmetto, FL beloved husband of 50 years to Anne-Marie (Beauchemin) Calhoun died Saturday (March 2, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his family and close friends. Bob was born and raised in Manchester, CT, the son of the late James and Helen (Gaskell) Calhoun and attended St. James School, Manchester, and graduated from Holy Trinity High School Class of 1957. He was the founder of the Hartford-Springfield Chapter of Arma (American Records Management Association) in 1978. He was also President for two years and Treasurer for two years in Arma. He was also involved for many years with Junior Achievements. He worked for Aetna Life & Casualty for 40 years as the Administrator of the Records Department. He also headed up the Micrographics Department. He traveled a lot for litigations for Aetna. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus Manchester Chapter. He was a CCD teacher for many years at St. James Church. He was also treasurer at Sunkey Village Homeowners Association. He was also co-owner of Plum Gully Stained Glass. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Gayle-Marie Connolly and her husband Mark R. Connolly; and his three grandchildren whom he was very proud of Amanda, Sarah and Patrick. He is also survived by his brother William J. Calhoun Sr. and his wife Simone of St. Petersburg, FL, his dear friend Raymond Longchamps, many close friends, in-laws, and nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog Molly. He was predeceased by his nephew William J. Calhoun, Jr. and his mother-in-law Helen A. Beauchemin. Bob's family would like to offer a special thanks to Nursing and Staff at St. Francis Hospital, CICU 5-9, 8-9 and 8-1. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (March 7th) at 11:00 at St. James Church 896 Main Street, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Wednesday from 4-8 pm and 10:15 am before the funeral on Thursday.
