Obituary of Elizabeth White
Elizabeth "Betty" M. White, wife of the late Roy H. White passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Cambridge Manor in Fairfield, CT. She was born March 8, 1921 in Manchester, CT and was the daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Janni) Mayer and a lifelong resident of Manchester until moving to Fairfield four years ago. Betty graduated from Manchester High School, class of 1939B and attended Hartford Secretarial School. She was employed by Pioneer Parachute, Hamilton Standard and retired from the Town of Manchester, Public Works Department. She is predeceased by her son Lt Col Roy M. White (USAF retired). She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Epstein of Fairfield, CT, daughter-in-law, Jane White of Chantilly, VA, four cherished grandchildren, Rebecca White of Herndon, VA, Mary Swift (Colby) of Centreville, VA, Christopher Epstein (Jo-Ann) of Stratford, CT, Justin Epstein (Fiancee Darcy) of Fairfield, CT, and four beloved great-grandchildren Eric, Nate and Cecelia Swift of Centreville, VA and Julia Epstein of Stratford, CT. Betty also leaves a cherished sister, Mary Mayer of Columbia, CT and Stuart, FL.
She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, the Assumption Ladies Guild, Manchester Senior Center and St. James Crafters.
The family would like to extend a very sincere and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Cambridge Manor for the loving care that they gave Betty over the past four years.
Funeral service will be held on Monday (February 11th) at 11:30 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 at the Church of the Assumption 27 Adams St. South, Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:30-11:30. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption 285 West Center St. Manchester, CT 06040.
