Quentin G. Mangun,(Quent) 92, of Manchester, CT , Jan. 30, 2013 "I have had a wonderful life"; often spoken of late by this gentle, caring, joyful man whose life ended peacefully Wed. morning. Quentin and his identical twin Kermit were born Aug. 13, 1920 in Kansas City, KS, to Eva and Lloyd Mangun. Being "identical" was a lifelong unique adventure of experiencing identical activities and choices, together in timing, though unplanned and miles apart. LOVE AND FAMILY: He first loved Marjorie Burton, whom he married in 1944, and their sons; David Mangun and his wife Rosemary, Williamstown MA, Mark Mangun, Frankfort KY, Paul Mangun and his wife Laurie, Manchester CT. He last loved Linda Gates, friend, companion and confidant, with whom he shared life and travel for 28 years. He loved and is fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Matthew Mangun and wife Dee, Timothy Mangun and wife Liz Urban, Nicole Oquendo, Eva Mangun, Joseph Mangun and great grandchildren; Deonna, Jazlynn, Karon, Elijah Oquendo . HARD WORK "If you're going to do it, do it right!" Many acts of kindness and service thru church and community, ie. Junior Achievement, advisor, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, Blood donor for many years. Thousands of hours spent caring for North United Methodist Church and the District Parsonage. Innumerable acts of friendship and kindness in the neighborhood and community. MUSIC: Quent loved classical music, and cherished sharing his sweet tenor tones in song; with North United Methodist Church 50 years, Gilbert and Sullivan, Beethoven Men's Chorus 22yrs. TRAVEL::Appreciated seeing 48 states, Rode motorcycles over 80,000 miles, Climbed the Cheops pyramid in Egypt, Visited the Holy Lands, Enjoyed 30 trips worldwide with Linda HIGHLIGHTS and HUMOR: Riding out a typhoon aboard ship, Buckner Bay, Okinawa, Carrying Olympic Torch 1996, Always curious and enjoyed learning new things, told endless jokes to entertain family, friends and audiences alike. SERVICES: Visitation with the family will be Sunday February 3 2013, 1pm at North United Methodist Church, 300 Parker Street, Manchester CT followed by Memorial Service at 2pm with Rev Laurel Scott, officiating.
