Obituary of Jean St. Michel

Jean Ann (Manning) St. Michel died peacefully November 15, 2011, after a long struggle with dementia. She was born January 3, 1928, to Gervase and Agnes Manning in Dickinson, ND. She graduated from Dickinson State Teachers College and received her Master's in Education from USC in 1972. She began her teaching career in North Dakota where she met her husband, Leo. In 1965 she moved with Leo and their four children to the first of many cities overseas. She taught English in Bangladesh (DASS), Thailand (ISB), Indonesia, and Egypt. She and her husband retired to Connecticut in 1998. She is survived by her husband Leo, four children and their families: Barbara (James Hewitt) of Oswego, NY; Maureen (Grant Manning) of Glastonbury; Nancy (Rick O'Connell) of Watertown, MA; and Michael (Jennifer) of Sekonk, MA; and five grandchildren, Duncan, Jeffrey, Sean, Sara, and Madeline. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel (Ruth) Manning of Omaha, NE and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks Maria Rivera for her constant compassionate care and companionship over the past three years. Jean will be remembered for her great sense of humor. A funeral mass will be held at St. Dunstan's Church in Glastonbury on November 19, 2011 at 11am. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements.
