Obituary of Margaret K. Robertson

Margaret "Peggy" Robertson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. She was born April 7th 1920 in West Wemyss, Fife, Scotland to the late Alexander and Maggie Knox Dryburgh. Peggy was a WWII veteran and served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. She was married to Thomas Robertson in 1944. They immigrated to America in 1963 with their two sons George and Alex and originally settled in West Hartford, CT where they lived for thirty one years before moving to Vernon, CT in 1994. After nearly 13 years in Vernon they moved to Manchester in 2007. Peggy worked for Travelers and part time for G Fox many years before retiring in 1985. She loved to dance and 'put on her dancing shoes' many times during her marriage to Tom. She enjoyed many years of traveling to Scotland, Nova Scotia, Canada, Cape Cod and bus tours here in the U.S. Peggy, along with her husband Tom, was devoted to family. She was involved in the lives of her grandchildren and was a tremendous source of love and support as they were growing up. One of her greatest joys was to live long enough to see her Great Grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Tom in 2007. She leaves behind two sons George Robertson and his wife Donna of Manchester, CT and Alex Robertson and his wife Luz of Springfield, MA. Dear friends Carl and Toni Colby of Windsor, CT. She is survived by two sisters, Jean Burt and Betty Fleming, both of Scotland, her brother in-law Jack Salmon of Scotland, brother in-law Billy Robertson and his wife Anna of Canada and George Robertson and his wife Sis of Scotland. Peggy was predeceased by six siblings, Eck Dryburgh, Jimmy Dryburgh, Jackie Dryburgh, Chrissie Salmon, Nancy Shaw and May McGrow. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Scott Robertson and his wife Josie of Manchester, CT, Sheri Rave-Indranathan and her husband Mathi of East Hartford, CT, Lauren Robertson and her fiancé Kendall Hurst of Tolland, CT, and Michael Schiller and his wife Kathy of Vernon, CT. She leaves her seven great grandchildren, Julia and Ella Robertson, Zachary Rave-Indranathan, Kelis and Keanu Hurst and Shane and Cody Schiller. She also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews and their families in Scotland. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, CT at 10:00am on Saturday January 19th 2013. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Henry Low Heart Center, Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT 06102-5037. Deschamps, DPM and his staff in Vernon, CT. Also, the family would like to thank all the Nurses, Assistants and Cardiologists at Hartford Hospital on North 10 and in the Cath Lab for the care of Peggy during her brief stay.
