Edgar J. Labonte, 91, the husband of the late Gertrude (Robidoux) Labonte, died on Sunday (January 13, 2013) at Woodlake of Tolland. Edgar was born in Canada the son of Omer and Sarah Labonte. He moved to Manchester in 1955. He retired from Pratt & Whitney in 1981 where he worked in the Special Repair Dept. He was a very self sufficient person and was known as a "Mechanical Guru". Edgar's outside interests included caring for the Model "T" he formerly owned and he was a great fan of thoroughbred horse racing. Edgar is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Cindy Labonte of Storrs; his grandson and his wife Chris and Carolyn Labonte of Lisbon, their children Samantha and Gabrielle and his daughter-in-law Patty Labonte of GA. He was also predeceased by his sons Russell and Richard Labonte and his sisters Adrienne Dubord, Germaine Ianelle and Fabiola Cote. Funeral service will be held on Thursday (1/17) at 11:00 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West center St. Manchester followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester.
