Anne Maureen Miner Zern of Simsbury, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, at St. Mary Home/Hospice, West Hartford, CT, after a brief battle with brain cancer. She was born in Hartford, CT on Sept. 11, 1949 to F. Weldon Miner and Margaret "Peggy" Macksey. Anne attended Bolton schools graduating from Bolton High School in 1967. She then attended Hartford College for Women. In 1968 Anne began a forty-year career in banking with Bank of America and its forerunners, Hartford National, Shawmut and Fleet. She had extensive experience in financial services including operational management, customer service, and training/supervision and ended her career with TD Bank in branch management. Anne is survived by her beloved daughter Abigail Melissa Zern of Perth, Australia and her siblings, Susan M. Lyons (David), David Weldon Miner (Mary), Deborah J. Miner, all of Manchester; Sara E. Slitt (Wayne) of Simsbury; and her step-siblings Wendy Warner (Bob) of Bellingham, WA and Richard A. Carey (Sue) of Center Sandwich, NH; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. A caring mother and cherished sister, she found family times special to her. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, reading, cross word puzzles, Jeopardy, movies and trips to the beach. Friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester on Tuesday Jan. 8 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral procession from the Tierney Funeral Home will be Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 at St. Maurice Church, 32 Hebron Rd, Bolton, CT. Burial will follow at the family plot in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
