Obituary of Eugene R. Gilliland
Eugene R. Gilliland, Sr., 82. of Manchester, beloved husband of Nancy (LeBeau) Gilliland of fifty-seven years died on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at this home. He was born August 2, 1935 in Hartford, the son of the late Mary Gilliland. Eugene lived in Manchester for the past fifty-five years. Prior to his retirement from the Post Office in Hartford he was a retired Teamster Local 671 as a truck driver for twenty-five years. He served in the US Air Force and was a disabled veteran. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Denise and Edward Roy of East Hampton and his son and daughter-in-law Eugene, Jr. and Kelli Gilliland of Ellington. Seven grandchildren, who know him lovingly as Grumpy, Christopher Mace and his wife Danielle and his first great grandson, Colston of Walpole, MA; Nicholas Mace and his wife Yue of Brighton, MA; Benjamin Mace of Manchester; Kenneth Gilliland and his fiance’ Michelle of Tilton, NH; Alexis Gilliland and her fiance’ Anthony of Celebration, FL; Abigail Gilliland and Madison Gilliland of Ellington. He also had two special nieces that grew up in our home, Anne Marie (Talley) Richardson and her husband Andre of MI and Brandi (Talley) Coventry and her husband Joe of NM. A special thanks to the Vernon Hospice, especially Kathy and Lisa, for all their support. As for Eugene’s wishes the burial will be private.
