Susan A. "Auntie" Chalou, 59, of Manchester, CT passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 28th at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in Eagle Lake, Maine, raised in Ashland, Maine and had lived in Manchester, CT for forty-one years. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alphonse and Evangeline Chalou of Ashland, ME. She was employed by SNET for thirty years, retiring in 2000. Sue was presently employed by Shawmut Equipment of Manchester. Sue enjoyed reading, watching the UCONN girls' basketball team and spending time with family and friends. Sue is survived by her sister, Donna Regan and her husband Michael of Ellington, CT; as well as her brothers and their spouses Rodney and Sylvia of Marsardis, ME; Terry and Barbara of Easton, ME; Neil of Ashland, ME and Doug of Windsor, CT and devoted dear friends Patricia and Frank Berlinski and their children of South Windsor, CT. Sue was a devoted caregiver to her nephew Michael Izzo until his passing. She is also survived by her "buddy" Joseph, who was like her own. Sue was a second mother to her nephew Kevin Regan of Ellington, CT and her niece Kim (Joe) Izzo of Coventry, CT. She dearly loved her many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family expresses gratitude to Sue's doctors and the 5th Floor I.C.U. staff at St. Francis Hospital, especially DR. Lahiri, Dr. Daoud, Dr. Jacob and Dr. Rockland for their compassion and care during this most difficult time. Calling hours will be Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at approximately 6:30 pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT.
