Obituary of Katie Reid
It is with a heavy heart that Barbara and Curt Reid announce the death of their angelic daughter, Katie Reid. Katie passed away unexpectedly in Rhode Island, family members were at her side as she passed. Given our strong Christian faith, we know that God is merciful and has already met Katie in Heaven with open arms. Katie came to us as a gift from God. Katie would put the needs of others well before her own. She was preparing to be a bridesmaid for her cousin, who will be married on Saturday, July 23rd. For reasons unknown to us, God has called Katie home. We know from Sacred Scripture that often times our ways are not God's ways. With that we must rejoice in the fact that she is now with her loving grandparents in Heaven. We will always remember Katie's smile, almost continuous laugh and her love and concern for animals, especially her dog Jax. We always know our dogs were in good hands when she was looking after them. She was a beautiful young woman who will be missed by all that had the good fortune to become acquainted with her. Katie was a 2006 graduate of Manchester High School and a 2010 graduate of Sacred Heart University. She was an avid soccer player, having played for Manchester High School as well as many travel teams. She especially enjoyed music, doing new things, and travelling. She was currently employed by Travelers Insurance Company. Besides her parents she is survived by her brother, Jason, her boyfriend, Andy Leitao and many, many friends and family. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, on Wednesday from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 am at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. Manchester, followed by burial in St. Bridget Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial donations may be made to either, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Second Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814 or St. Bridget School 74 Main St. Manchester, CT 06042.
