Florence H. Smith, 94, the beloved wife of the late John "Jay" Smith died on Tuesday (July 5, 2011) at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Hartford the daughter Louis and Rose (Zito) DiCiancia and had lived in Newington for many years. She had retired from "The Hartford" and was a former member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbus and the Newington Senior Citizens. She was an avid cook, the creator of flawless ceramics and a dedicated New York Yankee fan. Florence is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Jay and Gail Smith of Glastonbury; her devoted and loving granddaughter Kristie Raymond and her husband Christopher of Rocky Hill, numerous nieces and nephews and her grand niece. Florence was also predeceased by her sisters Eleanor Mahaney and Rose Marie Pulver and her brother Patsy DiCiancia. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Thursday from 5-8. Family and friends are requested to meet at St. Mary Church Willard Ave. Newington at 10:00, on Friday, to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
