Barry Eugene Sweeney, 66, of Manchester beloved husband of Andrea (Eliason) Sweeney for 40 years, passed away on Saturday (January 23, 2010) surrounded by his entire loving family. Born in Hartford CT, son of the late Thomas and Agnes Deely Sweeney, Barry lived in Manchester most of his life. He graduated from Manchester High School. He was employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft of East Hartford for 25 years. He presently was Vice President and co-owner of Nelson Precision Drilling in Glastonbury, CT. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved to spend time with family, especially his grandchildren. Besides his beloved wife Andrea, he leaves his precious daughter, Erin Sweeney and Timothy Merritt and grandchildren Conor and Collin of Manchester; his siblings Sr. Elaine Sweeney, Ph.D., Shrewsbury, MA, Doreen and Jim Anderson, Manchester, CT, Darlene and Raymond Solomson, Hebron, CT, Deirdre and Bryan Palmer, East Hartford, CT, Brian and Valerie Sweeney, Coventry, CT, Thomas and Ann Sweeney, East Hampton, CT and Terry and Karen Sweeney, Coventry, CT. He leaves nine nieces and nephews, their spouses and five great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He also leaves his aunts Patricia S. Coughlin of East Hampton, CT and Mary D. Sweeney of Wethersfield, CT, along with a large extended family (you know who you are) and a very special friend, Father William Flynn of Taftville, CT. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church, Manchester. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. We love you Barry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (1/27/2010) at 10:00 at St. Bartholomew Church, 45 Ludlow Road Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery.
