Obituary of A. Paul Berte'
A. Paul Berte', 71, of Manchester, beloved husband of Susan (Thomas) passed away at Manchester Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Born in Framingham, MA, Paul was pre-deceased by his father Aldino Berte', mother Maria (Gasparoni) Berte' and his daughter Meg Berte' Owen. Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his children; Sira and her husband Brian, Thomas and his wife Nicolette, and Benjamin; his grandchildren Mia and Samuel; his sister Elaine Russo of Southborough, MA: and his adored Roxy (Himalayan cat).
Paul led a life passionately dedicated to family, his Catholic faith and public service. He received an undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College where he always remained an active and proud alumnus interviewing prospective students and serving on the alumni council. He went on to serve in US Army intelligence, and then received his joint JD & MBA graduate degrees from Columbia University. His combined vocation & advocation were 38 years as an attorney dedicated to Workers' Compensation during which he served 16 years as the Workers' Compensation First District Commissioner. Having lived in Manchester for 44 years, the community-at-large benefited from his endless hours of service dedicated to the Manchester Republican Town Committee, Manchester Housing Authority, St. Vincent DePaul, Savings Bank of Manchester (SBM) Board of Directors, SBM Charitable Foundation, ECHN Board of Trustees, and Republican State Central Committee of CT.
A Christian mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Church 896 Main Street, Manchester followed by the burial in East Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John F.
