Ellen and Ralph Abele posted a condolence
Monday, January 25, 2010
Jan, Tom, and Catie, We were shocked and saddened to hear of Matt's passing. We still see him as Jeremy's lively, tow-headed friend, and we still have a picture of the two of them from Dana Getman's bar mitzvah, dressed up in Civil War garb, Jeremy looking a bit serious, Matt with a big grin on his face. It sounds like he lived a very full and rich, if too-short, life, and we grieve his loss. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Fondly, Ellen and Ralph Abele

Dear Freddo Family, Our most sincere condolences to the entire Freddo Family for the loss of Matthew Freddo. We just read the article in the Newton Tab. We remember Matthew as a very young child when we moved into our first home at Fairway Drive and especially at the summer get-togethers at your house, as a teenager when he was a Counselor at Fessenden Summer Camp when our children attended summer camps there, as a bubbly adolescent in the neighborhood during our neighborhood strolls. May the beautiful memories of Matthew be with you during these difficult times. With our deepest sympathies, Yee & Peter Kwan & Family.

Dear Jan and Thom, !Fairway Drive! - Our first homes! - Where we were neighbors. - Where careers were beginning. - Where we started our families. - Where our children played freely. - Where we created so many memories. - Where it is easy to look back on those early days with fondness. - Where what comes to mind is a picture of a cute little boy, blonde hair blowing in the wind, racing his big wheels or bike on the sidewalk between our homes - Where Matt was forever in motion. - Where there would be a knock on the door, only to find Matt standing there, looking up with those big eyes, asking if Ryan and/or Brendan were home and would they come out and play! - Where there were those times when we were out in the yard gardening or doing chores and suddenly Matt would appear from nowhere! - Where he would ask — “What are you doing?” - Where we would respond---and it would generate into a marathon session of questions and answers! It is easy to see that Matt never stopped being curious! It is also evident that he lived his life with passion and grew to be a fine young man that any parent would be proud of. Too few of us are likely to ever experience or accomplish as much as he did. By sharing a few of our memories of Matt, we hope that you may find some comfort in them. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The Moriarty Family Joan, Richard, Brendan and Ryan

I had the opportunity of working with Matt when he 1st began at JD in the Gaseous & Particulate Emissions Group. He was a very quick learner and very helpful as we commissioned our two new High Altitude Emission test cells. He impressed me as a young engineer with a bright future ahead of him. He will be missed by his friends at John Deere. My sympathy to his family. Gary Dorhout

I looked up to Matt when we were childhood buddies because he always had the answers. Among other things, I'll always remember our cub scout trips, writing stories about our reptilian alter egos, and hamster-sitting.

Dear Thom, Jan, Catie and the entire family- I was looking at pictures of Matt and Catie as young children in Westport and Sarasota last night, and I remembered what a curious mind Matt had, always wanting to know more about things. Last I saw him he was a handsome, young man, and clearly still enjoyed learning...at the time, ski-skates in Kilington. There are really no words that seem appropriate at this sad time except that I hope that the sadness of his passing will eventually be filled with happy memories of his living. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all. Love, Kathleen

I had the privledge of working with Matt in his second assignment in the EDP program. I ran the test engines in our Life Test area and worked closely with Matt on a daily basis. Matt seemed to thrive on problem solving issues that arose during the testing of the engines and when things were going fine with the engines he was responsible for he would help other young engineers with problems they were dealing with. He was an incredible young man and will be missed by those of us that worked with him. Please accept my condolences in your time of sorrow and remember Matt for all the things he accomplished at such a young age.
