Ernest C. "Ernie" Becker, Jr. 58, of Manchester, formerly of Glastonbury, died Wednesday (September 19, 2012) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Ernest C. and Waver (Duff) Becker. Ernest grew up in Glastonbury, attended Cheney Tech in Manchester and had lived in Manchester for the past 20 years. He was the longtime owner of Becker Electric and had partnered with his friend Chris Maulucci for the last 5 years. Ernie was active with the Hartford County 4H for many years. He was a farmer at heart, and loved working with the earth. He enjoyed his time on his farms in Manchester and Glastonbury, as well as his weekend trips to his land in Vermont where he loved snowmobiling in the winter and tending the land with his tractors in the summer. He is survived by his sister June Gillon and her husband James of Vernon; his nephew Jamie Gillon; his nieces Larissa Riley and her husband Travis, and Adah Gillon; his great-nephews James and Nicholas Riley and manyl aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his extended family at Botticello Farms, friends and business associates at Boynton Construction, SR Blanchard Inc., Bushnell Enterprises, Spear Construction, and Bailey building. Ernie also leaves many close friends including, Steve Blanchard, Lee Schiavetti, Andrew Bushnell, Leo Mason, Dave Potter and his dear friend Fran Lombardo. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (September 22nd) at 11 am at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by burial in Old Buckingham Cemetery, Glastonbury. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 pm.
