Gloria R. Swanson, 87, of Manchester, the wife of the late Hugo Swanson, died peacefully at her home on Saturday December 9, 2017. A lifelong resident of Manchester, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Weber) Ferrell. Gloria married Hugo in 1952. After raising 4 children, she worked at a Doctor's office and an insurance agency in town. Gloria and Hugo enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They loved traveling, gardening, antiques, swimming in the back yard pool and vacationing on Cape Cod for the past 30 years. Gloria is survived by her son Gary Swanson and his wife Francine of Bellingham, MA, and her daughter Wendy Burnham of South Windsor as well as her grandchildren Robby Burnham, Michael Burnham, Michelle Burnham, and Kendall Swanson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son David, her daughter Linda, and her sisters, Helen Fazzina of Manchester and Doris Aberle of Rockville. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16th, at 11 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by burial in East Cemetery.
