Justin Michael Wilkie, a resident of Middletown, CT, died unexpectedly on December 9, 2017 at the age of 30 as a passenger in a tragic car accident. Justin also leaves behind many lifelong friends who enriched his life beyond measure. He is predeceased by his grandparents Michael and Josephine Lavelle; his uncle, Jeffrey Corrao; and his cousin, Devin Badurina. Justin was born in Manchester, CT on September 30, 1987 to Dean and Karen Wilkie, where he was raised and lived most of his life. He attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA before transferring to Eastern State Connecticut University and graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Justin worked for Chartwell's Catering throughout college and later found his passion working as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, Connecticut Rivers Counsel in July of 2015. Justin recently started a position as the Developmental Director for the Middlesex United Way, as well as being a board member of the Middletown Rotary Club, where his passion for volunteer work and leadership shone through. Justin was charismatic, unconditionally selfless and hardworking, always putting others before himself. His family always came first to him, serving as a protector, a comedian and a superhero in his own right. His heart was big enough to encompass all those he held close. His friends, old and new, could always look to him for compassion and strength. He loved the outdoors, whether fishing, frisbee golf or hiking, and was a life-long player and fan of both hockey and World of Warcraft. Justin was also an avid reader, getting lost in the adventures of his favorite books whenever he could find the time. The laughter and smiles he shared with us were infectious and he brought sunshine to anyone he met. Justin's participation and commitment as a leader to the community and the betterment of today's youth will go on and light the way for the rest of us to make a true difference in other's lives. "Service above self" was his belief. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him and love him.
