Obituary of Walter J. Zinker
Walter Joseph Zinker, husband of June Zinker for 59 years, passed away on September 6, 2012 at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 6, 1926 in Ellington, CT, the son of Joseph and Mary Zinker. He worked at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks for 36 years. He had lived in Manchester, CT for most of his life. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Rockville Auxiliary and the American Legion. Besides his wife, he is survived by five children Cheryl Zinker of Manchester, Scott Zinker and his wife Deb of Erie, CO, Mark Zinker and his wife Jennifer of West Haven, CT, Todd Zinker of Enfield and Kim Zinker of Manchester, and five grandchildren, Samantha, Cheyenne, Alyssa, Ryan, and Jennie Zinker. He also leaves two sisters Marge Wendus and her husband Eddie of Columbia, and Bette Machnik of Ellington, and a brother Joseph Zinker and his wife Thelma of Tolland, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Eleanor German. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (September 12th) from 6-8 pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester.
