Obituary of Marilyn B. Don
Marilyn B. Don, 81, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born in Newport, NH, the daughter of the late Eugene Bowers and Stella (Ranta) Bowers. Marilyn loved God, her family and her country. She was a veteran, serving in the United States Air Force before starting her career as a switchboard operator in the electrical industry for over 20 years.
Marilyn cherished her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, attending their sporting events and taking pride in each one of their accomplishments. G's famous home-made doughnuts and oatmeal raisin cookies were always a family favorite.
Marilyn was a resident at Orford Village Commons and toured with the Orford Village "Antique Road Show" performing country music at various senior housing facilities in the community. She also enjoyed reading, crafting, and was an avid supporter of the UCONN Huskies Women's Basketball team.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters; Valerie Sweeney and her husband Brian of Coventry, Stephanie Anderson and her husband Jimmy of Vernon, and Laurie Hennigan and her husband Corwyn Fabian of Manchester. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Brendan Sweeney, Ian Sweeney & his fiancé Kara Mastroianni, Katie Anderson & her fiancée Dan St. John, Tyler Anderson, Jessica Hennigan Rhinesmith & her husband Peter, and Michael Hennigan; her great-grandchildren; Luke and Stella Rhinesmith , her sister Dorothea Kiro, of East Hartford and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her brother-in-law Peter Kiro.

Friends and family may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester on Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, December 12th, all are invited to go directly to South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main St, Manchester for a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
