Obituary of Harry Connolly
Harry Joseph "Joe" Connolly passed away peacefully on November 17, 2017. He was born January 5, 1929 in Manchester, CT and was the son of the late Harry and Annie Magee Connolly. Joe was the husband of the late Winifred Connolly.
He loved his family more than anything and wed the love of his life, Winifred "Winnie" Bonner in 1954. They were married for sixty years and raised their family together. Joe is survived by his children, Brendan and his wife Michelle of Severna Park, MD; Mary Ledwith and her husband Kevin of Yardley, PA; Sheila Gilligan and her husband Kevin of Westford, MA; Erin Connolly of Manchester; Michael and his wife Jacqui of Manchester and John and his wife Taryll of Manchester, CT. Joe better known as "Pop Pop" leaves his twelve beloved grandchildren Sean, Patrick and his wife Jun Jun, Jay, Caitlin, Timothy, Meghan, Shannon, Michael, Matthew, Kevin, Katie and Allison. Pop Pop also leaves his great grandchild, Grace. Joe is also survived by his brother James and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Joe was predeceased by his sister Joanie and his brother Jack.
Joe was employed at Pratt and Whitney for thirty three years retiring in 1987 as a Foreman in Quality Assurance. Prior to this, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. In his retirement, Joe enjoyed golf, darts and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. James Church, the Irish American Home and the British American Club.
Joe was very proud of his Irish heritage and was grateful he traveled to Ireland a few times. He kept his mind sharp doing daily crosswords, reading the papers, and listening to news. Joe loved to follow sports and especially enjoyed UCONN Basketball, the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the Glasgow Celtics. He was also a deeply religious man and loved God and the USA.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday November 21, 2017 from 4-8PM at the John F. Tierney Funeral home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, CT. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10:15AM from the funeral home, with a mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester, CT.
