Obituary of Jean Ballok

Jean E. Ballok, 56, of Coventry the wife of Robert A. Ballok died Sunday August 16, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Lila K. (Williams) Brown. She was proud to be employed as a paraeducator at Coventry Grammar School. Jean loved to read, travel and especially loved spending time with her family. Besides her husband she is survived by her children Melissa M. and her husband Guy T. Fortunato of Somers, and Robert A. Ballok, Jr. of Coventry, and her grandson, who was her pride and joy, Thomas A. Fortunato. She is also survived by her siblings Maureen Kilbourn and her husband Thomas, Stephen J. Brown and his wife Jane, Geraldine Koba and her husband John, and Catherine Gonzales and her husband Stephen, her sister-in-law Joann Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother Thomas R. Brown, Jr. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Thursday (August 20th)from 4-8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:45 am from the funeral home with a service at 11 am at First Congregational Church of Coventry 1171 Main St. Coventry, CT followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Coventry. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Jean E. Ballok Memorial Library Fund c/o Coventry Grammar School 3453 Main St. Coventry, CT 06238.
