Obituary of Claire Daggett

Claire Estelle (Smith) Daggett, 79, of Manchester, CT, beloved wife of the late Harvey Elliott Daggett and dearly loved mother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members on August 27, 2012. She was born on August 21, 1933 in Brownville, Maine, daughter of the late Elwin and Hilda (Boobar) Smith. Prior to moving to Manchester, Claire had been a resident of East Hartford for over 40 years. Claire spent her life caring for others. Her kitchen light was always on with a fresh pot of coffee and goodies to be shared. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, listening to music, playing Yahtzee, going to tag sales and antique shops. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her house was decorated from top to bottom. She is survived by her children, April Daggett Willhide and her husband Richard of Manchester, CT; Robert Daggett of Ellsworth, ME; Hilda Wylie of Bristol, CT; Luanne Peters of Bar Harbor, ME; Stephen Peters and his wife D'Anna of Kaneohe, HI; her sister, Nona Brown and her husband Neil Marshall of Abbot, ME; her special granddaughter Jennifer Willhide of Berlin, CT; several other grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Claire was predeceased by her son Ronald Peters, her sister Joan O'Shea, and her brother Henry Smith. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 31st, at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT, with a private burial in Maine. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Gordon Brodie of Manchester and the staff of Manchester Manor.
