Violet H. Petroccia, of East Hartford, beloved widow of William T. Petroccia, passed suddenly on Monday, July 13, 2009. Violet was the third of five children of Bronislaus (Barney) and Emily Wicinski of Milwaukee, WI, born in 1930. First moving to Coventry, CT, she settled in East Hartford and was last employed by the Manchester School District as a teacher's aide until her retirement in mid 1990's. Violet is survived by her two sons, Malcolm Petroccia and spouse Bernadette of Pittsburgh, PA and Mark Petroccia and spouse Lisa of Jupiter, FL, her daughter Susan Petroccia and spouse Tom Eng of Pleasant Valley, NY. She is also survived by her sisters Leona Weber and spouse LaVerne of Jefferson, WI and Arline Graham and spouse Hank of Franklin, WI, her five grandchildren Megan, Heather, Daniel, Alexis and Nathaniel, 10 nieces and nephews, and her great aunt, Eleanor Kurzynski, age 93. We will all miss Violet and fondly remember her as a caring, generous and gracious wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 16, 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester. Funeral service will be held on Friday July 17th at 12:15 pm from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm, St. Christopher Church 538 Brewer St. East Hartford followed by burial in Silver Lane Cemetery.
