Obituary of Agnes Mary Luby

LUBY, Agnes "Bridgie" Agnes Mary Luby, 87, of South Glastonbury, died on Monday (September 18, 2017) surrounded by her 5 children. Born in Houlton, Maine, June 5, 1930; she is pre-deceased by her husband, Jack Luby, her parents Augustus & Marguerite Haggerty, her sisters Dolores Jordan, Marie Corey & Anne O'Brien, and her brother Charles Haggerty. Bridgie earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maine - Orono. She worked as a teacher in the East Hartford Schools. Bridgie was also a docent at the Wadsworth Atheneum for 20 years as part of her lifelong devotion to the arts and painting. She was an active parishioner and communicant of the Church of the Assumption in Manchester. She is survived by her brother Thomas Haggerty of Pawcatuck, CT; her sons and daughters, John and Kelie Luby of South Glastonbury, Michael and Amy Luby of Manchester, Suzanne and Tim Ahrens of Franklin, MA, William Luby and Corrine Crocker-Luby of Glastonbury, Dr. Marie Luby of Glastonbury; and her ten grandchildren: Mackenzie, Samantha, Cecelia, Noah, Jack, Samuel, Lily, Anna, Johnny, & James. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 20 from 4-7 pm at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 21 at 10 am at the Church of the Assumption, 29 South Adams Street, Manchester, CT. Family and friends are asked to proceed directly to the church that morning.
