Obituary of Constance S. Lombardo

Constance (Giti) Sapienza Lombardo of Manchester, CT passed away peacefully at her home on June 23, 2017 surrounded and comforted by her four devoted daughters. Connie was born in Manchester, CT. on July 7, 1921 and lived her entire life in Manchester, CT. Connie was married for 65 years and predeceased by her husband Carl J. Lombardo, her son Dr. Richard J. Lombardo, her sisters Anna Sylvester, Mary Sheridan, Josephine Malin, Theresa Dougan, and her brothers Rosario and Gerald Sapienza. Connie was a loving and dedicated mother who always put her family first. Connie worked at the State Capital for a few years before starting a family at which time she went to work for the Pagani and later Genovesi Insurance Agency part and full time for 60 years. She was an avid reader and loved playing and winning at the game of scrabble with her daughters, family and friends. She also loved dancing with her husband Carl, watching the Yankees and UCONN girls basketball. She is survived by her sister Gloria S. Vendreys, her children Carol L. Bryant, Mary Lombardo, Ginny Lombardo, Geri Rivosa and her beloved pet and companion Lita. She also leaves her grandchildren Terry Lynn Springer and her husband Justin; Karin and Mandy Lombardo; Erin Fletcher and her husband Jarad; Ed Guth; Kimberly Bryant; John, Olivia, and Alec Rivosa; 5 great grandchildren Guy, Kara, Cameran, Ethan and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers from the VNA, Becky and Marge, and her afternoon caregiver, Enid, for their kind and compassionate care. They became very special to Connie and her family. Visiting hours will be held Friday, June 30th from 5 to 8 pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Church on Saturday July 1st at 10:00am, 896 Main Street, Manchester, CT. Burial will follow the funeral mass at St. Benedict's Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care Foundation, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
