Frances Anne Reiser, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the presence of her family. Born October 8, 1919, in Hartford, Frances was the daughter of Laurence and Mary (McKenna) Roath. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William E. Reiser, and is survived by her ten children: Rev. William Reiser, S.J., of Worcester, MA; Matthew (Dorothy) of Vero Beach, FL; Mary Alice Hartnett, Maureen Reiser Couvares, Suzette Daly (Dan) Anne Lodge (Bill) and John (Ruth), all of Manchester; Thomas (Wanda) of Marlborough; Christopher (Victoria) of Ashford; and Joseph (Jean) of Westford, MA. She is also survived by her 31 grandchildren, her 25 great grandchildren and a sister, Alice Ayers, of Wethersfield. She was predeceased by four brothers and a sister. During her life Frances was an active member and communicant of both St. James Church and the Church of the Assumption in Manchester, and was active is the St. Agnes Guild, the Legion of Mary, and a number of other church mission and outreach programs. Having raised ten children (who made her, she said, the wealthiest woman in the world), she delighted in her new role as Grandmother and gave her unconditional love, wisdom and prayers in support of her expanding family. She took great comfort and consolation in imagining that, if she could feel such strong and untiring love towards each of us, then how much more God must feel the same. Her deep faith and generous heart inspired all those who knew her. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, June 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home at 219 West Center Street in Manchester. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, at the Church of the Assumption (21 Adams Street, Manchester). Family and friends are asked to meet directly at Church. Burial will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery in Manchester.
