Obituary of David Surprenant
David Marshall Surprenant Sr., 69, beloved husband of forty-three years to Maureen (Taverney) Surprenant died June 1, 2017, after a brave battle with Brain Cancer surrounded by his loving family.
David was a Proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. David worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Public Works and OSBI for thirty-three years, as a Construction Specialist, and Building Inspector, before retiring in 2016. David worked extensively to continue his education to service the State, in his position including, earning an Associate's Degree in Construction Management in 2011, and holding a Master License in Plumbing, S2 License in Heating and Cooling, F2 License in Fire Protection, and a General Contractors License. He enjoyed fishing and range shooting and most of all, spending time with his family. Along with his wife, David is survived by his children; Laurie Surprenant and her wife Amy Kenkel; David M. Surprenant JR and his wife Rebecca; Dawn Surprenant and her significant other Piotr Hudela. David is also survived by his beloved granddaughters Kayla and Kiera Surprenant; his brothers Paul and Thomas Surprenant; and their wives, his sisters Ann Curran, Mary Pietrowski, and Elizabeth Climan; and their husbands, and many nieces and nephews. David also leaves behind many very special and caring friends. David was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Carmen Surprenant.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Infusion Center at Hartford Hospital or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, in David's' name.
Funeral services for David will be held on Friday, June 9th, at 9:15 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St. Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd, South Windsor with burial to follow at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
