Howat, Sarah A., Sarah (Sally) Howat, 86, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, holding the hand of her cherished son and daughter-in-law. Sally was born on October 19, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Lucille (Webb) Armstrong. She lived the majority of her life in CT, retiring to FL. She was the loving wife to her late husband, Allan T. Howat who passed in 2001. Together, they shared almost 50 years of marriage, raised four children, Pamela Zimmer (Robert), Cumming, GA; Karen Howat, Vernon; Allan Howat (Nancy), East Haddam and Sally Sakowski (Giovanni), Manchester. She leaves behind her eight beloved grandchildren; Sean Martin; Shane and Ryan Tuttle; Jessica Johnston; Jeffrey Cusick-Howat; Trisha Coehlo; Elizabeth and Eric Sakowski, along with five precious great-grandchildren.
Sally's gift in life was caring for others. She tirelessly raised her children, was involved in their extra curriculum activities, kept an immaculate home and could fix just about anything around the house. She was very outgoing, physically fit and loved traveling with Al, spending time with her grandchildren, art and crafts, nature and animals.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Allan, along with her siblings Russell, Richard, Ralph, Irene, Ruth Armstrong and June Poland.
There are no calling hours. Her burial will be alongside her husband in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
As a final tribute to Sally's life, please perform a "Random Act of Kindness" or consider adopting a "Rescue" animal and providing a forever home.
Our family sends a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Seabury Meadows and Chestelm Health Care for all the good care they provided our mother over the past decade as her Alzheimer's disease progressed.
