Obituary of Robert W. Herdlein
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Robert William Herdlein, 75, also known as "Herdy" and "Grampy" passed away at his home on May 3, 2017. He lived a life full of helping those around him whenever he could. He was a veteran of the Army and worked for the United States Post Office until his retirement. He enjoyed the beach, playing cribbage, reading a good book, painting, and time with family and friends. He spent his retirement taking care of his grandchildren, watching baseball and basketball games, going to choral and band concerts, enjoying the festivities of the holidays, and cracking jokes to make those around him laugh and smile. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Louise Herdlein of Manchester and his 2 sons and their families - Robert A. Herdlein and Jousette Caraballo of Manchester, their children Margaret, Tito, Sebastian, Anthony, & Angelina and Bill Herdlein, his wife Tina of Butler, PA and their daughter Madison. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Murray, her husband Edward of Wellington, FL and her adult children - Edward, Kim, Kelly, Kathy and their families as well the family of Louise Herdlein including Archangelo and Joann D'Amato of Vernon, George and Maria Prattson of Vernon, Anthony and Catherine D'Amato of Kingston, MA and Joseph and Leslie D'Amato of Meriden and their families. Robert was preceded in death by both his parents William Herdlein and Marie Endruzzi and his daughter Dina Irene Herdlein.
Wake services will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home at 219 West Center Street, Manchester CT from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, May 7th. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Monday, May 8th at 10am with burial to follow at St. James Cemetery in Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any and all who wish can make a donation in the memory of Bob to the charity of their choice.
