Obituary of Richard R. Krol

Richard R. "Dick" Krol, 75, of South Windsor, formerly of Manchester, the husband of the late Joyce (Dupont) Krol died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Manchester, he had lived in Manchester for many years before moving to South Windsor 30 years ago. He was a US Army veteran, a member of the Manchester Elks #1893, and the Washington Social Club. Dick was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Yankees, and Giants. He enjoyed travelling with his wife until her death and more recently with Kay, to warm places and New York City. His grandchildren, who affectionately called him Poppie, were the light of his life. He is survived by his partner and best friend Kathleen "Kay" Lucente; his children Annette Davies and her husband Daniel, and Richard Krol, Jr.; and his grandchildren Veronica, Peter, Michael and Samuel Davies, and Kelly, Kyle and Haley Krol. He is also survived by a sister-in-law and her family, with whom he had a close relationship; Beverly Dupont, her daughter Francine and her husband Bogdan, their children Francesca and Adam; and her daughter Suzanne and her husband Adam; and numerous other relatives, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 13th at 9:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 12th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to B.P.O.E #1893 Manchester Lodge of Elks, Benevolent Fund, 30 Bissell St. Manchester, CT 06040.
