Obituary of Charles Saimond
Charles "Chuck" Saimond, 74 of Manchester and St. Petersburg, FL died February 22, 2017 at Bayfront Trauma Center in the loving arms of his wife, Joan, and surrounded by his family following a tragic accident at his home in St. Pete. He is survived by his wife Joan Cromwell Saimond, his son Christopher Saimond and his partner TJ Nejmanowski of Pleasant Prairie WI, his step-sons and wives David and Teri Dougan of Manchester, Kyle and Dori Dougan of Hebron and John and Jennifer Dougan of Imperial, CA.; his adoring grandchildren Jessica, Brooke, Kayleigh, Amanda, Ethan, Rachel, Peyton, John Charles and Aiden Dougan. He was predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Helen (Dowds) Saimond and his step-son Scott Dougan. He also is survived by his brother Mike and wife Pat Saimond of South Windsor and Sister Helen and husband George Caye of South Windsor, as well as adoring nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind close friends Cortney and Mark Hendrickson and daughters of York, PA. Chuck was blessed with an inner peace and gentle soul and loved by so many. He was an outstanding athlete as a young boy and man. He captained his baseball, basketball and soccer teams while at Manchester High School. He went onto Springfield College where he played varsity soccer. Their team made it to the "Final Four" - an incredible accomplishment as there were no Divisions at that time. This SC team of players developed an incredible bond and continue an amazing fellowship at reunions and elsewhere. He continued his education receiving his master's degree in Special Education at UCONN. Chuck taught in the Vernon School System for thirty-five years teaching both Special Ed and Physical Education. He coached Varsity Boys' Soccer for 30 years for Rockville High School. His boys to this day get together and reminisce and there is love and laughter. Chuck was inducted into the Manchester Sports Hall of Fame and the Rockville Sports Hall of Fame. Chuck loved fishing and golfing with his buddies at Ellington Ridge Country Club where he and Joan were members, and at Manchester Country Club and St. Petersburg Country Club where they played after retirement. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Church 896 Main Street Manchester. Family and friends may call at the John F.
