Helen P. (Hrycay) Ashe, 96, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 22nd at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had been cared for during these past few months. A lifelong resident of Chicopee, she was the daughter of Konstanty and Anna Hrycay. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, in 2003 whom she met while working at the Fisk Tire plant. Helen possessed a wry and subtle sense of humor which many times left her children shaking their heads but also with a story they were happy to repeat. Her grandchildren referred to these anecdotes as "Helenisms". Helen was one of seven siblings. She was predeceased by brothers Joseph, & John , sister Catherine along with her daughter Eileen. Helen is survived by three of her children Christine Ashe of Coventry CT, Joann Goodale (John) of Ponte Vedra, FL, & Michael Ashe (Patricia) of Springfield, MA. She leaves two brothers Donald (Barbara) and Paul Hrycay, and a sister Anna Steeley (Harold). Helen was the proud grandmother of Amber Sherrill, Jessica Keeler (Kyle), Meghan, Maureen & Kerry Ann Ashe and her 4 great-grandchildren Brandon, Mason, Ella Kathleen, & Ryan. The family wishes to extend deep thanks to the staff of the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for all of their support and care during Helen's stay.
