Joan C. Olsen, 78, of East Hartford, the beloved wife of 54 years to Arnold Olsen died Wednesday (July 25, 2012) at Glastonbury Health Care Center. Born in Van Buren, ME she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Oullette) Corriveau. Joan retired from the Town of East Hartford as Assistant Registrar of Voters after many years of service. She was a volunteer at Manchester Memorial Hospital for 10 years, was a life member of the Sons of Norway and was a frequent blood and apheresis cell donor for the American Red Cross. Joan's love for family, friends, and community was always evident in the many activities she enjoyed. Besides her husband she is survived by her children Hans Olsen and his wife Denise of Colchester, Mark Olsen and his wife Loren of Colchester, Julie Fluckiger and her husband Collin of Tolland, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Claudette Hallisey of Fort Myers, FL, her brother Bob Corriveau of North Falmouth, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Carl Olsen, one brother and three sisters. Funeral service will be held on Sunday (July 29th) at 1 pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Burial in Van Buren, ME will occur at a later date.
