Obituary of James J. Mulvey

James J. Mulvey, 88, of Manchester, the husband of Marianne Mulvey died Wednesday February 1, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Pawtucket, RI he was the son of the late William A. and Delia Helen (McNally) Mulvey. In addition to being a retired Lt Colonel of the United States Army Reserves, James J Mulvey had a life long career until retirement from Agway the commercial agricultural company. His love of animals spanned from livestock to many breeds of dogs over his entire life. His youthful disposition and optimistic outlook lasted his entire life without prevail. Over his 88 years, his wisdom, generosity of spirit, and gentle disposition touched everyone who had the pleasure to meet him. His last words were of how he met his wife of 62 years in Berlin, how much he adored her, loved her, and considered his marriage to her the best decision of his life. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Raymond P. Mulvey, Patricia Lajoie, and James J. Mulvey Jr.; his siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6th at 9:15 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church 736 Middle Turnpike, Manchester followed by burial in Hillstown Road Veteran's Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
