Obituary of George W. Bugbee

George W. Bugbee Jr. Born in Cranston, RI, died January 27, 2017 in Manchester, CT. George "Red" Bugbee died peacefully at his home on January 27,2017 surrounded by his family. George was born in Cranston, RI June 5, 1921, one of eleven siblings. He attended Cranston High School where he excelled in track. He met and married Mildred E. Bugbee at the Rhodes Dance Hall in RI. They were married for 62 years and resided in Andover and Columbia CT. He had many occupational ventures including operating his own gas station, building homes and working at Pratt and Whitney in experimental testing Department 956. He retired in the1980s. George's hobbies included woodworking and boating, at the age of 80 restoring an 8 ft Dyer sailboat to its original condition. He leaves three children, his son Roger and fiancée Debbie Sweeney, his daughters Karen Serrenho, and Lori O'Connor and her husband Bob. He leaves his grandchildren including Jeff Bugbee and his wife Pam, Joseph Serrenho, Kathryn Maloney and husband John and great grandson Connor. George liked to joke and tell his favorite stories. He was an animal lover and dog advocate and will especially missed his dogs. Special appreciation to the staff of Elder Care Consulting for their compassionate care provided in his final years. Funeral service will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Wednesday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
