Obituary of Frances Morin
Frances 'Fran' Morin, 68, of East Hartford, beloved wife of Gary Morin for 43 years, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Friday, Jan. 13 after courageously fighting metastatic lung cancer to the brain. Fran's cancer journey was defined by her dignity and character, and she inspired all she encountered along the way.
Fran was born and raised in Waterbury, and is predeceased by her parents John and Maria (Rosa) Kenney.
Fran loved working in the healthcare field and taking care of others. She was employed by AARP Pharmacy for over 17 years, and most recently spent 10 years with Masonicare Partners. During her treatment, she was known to do research that might help other patients - even when suffering, herself. Fran enjoyed having friends and family over for picnics and parties, traveling to the Cape and the coast of Maine and dancing or cooking to a steady soundtrack of oldies music. Elvis was her favorite.
In addition to her husband, Fran is survived by her daughter Michele Zern and her husband Dan of Hebron, and their children Aidan and Lilah; and her son Brian and his wife Sarah of South Windsor, and their son Jacob. She also leaves a brother Ed Kenney and his wife Beth, her sister Jacqueline Gugliotti, her sister Marie Kenney and her friend Ewart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Baker, Dr. Bertsch and their staff members at Hartford Hospital for their kindness and dedication to Fran's care over the course of her illness, as well as the staff she worked with at Masonicare Partners for their time and attention to her care.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, 85 Retreat Ave, Hartford CT 06106 or Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford CT 06108.
Fran's family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester CT 06040. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor CT 06074, with burial to follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
