Obituary of Josephine A. Deary

Josephine Alice (Manganello) Deary, born May 12, 1923, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 29, 2016 at Crestfield Nursing Home, Manchester. She is predeceased by her husband Charles H. Deary, Jr. her sister Lydia Massa and her stepdaughter Patricia Begley. Josephine loved music and in her younger years was a talented pianist. She also loved the newspaper business and spent her career years working at both The Hartford Times and Manchester Herald. Tai Chi and bridge were a large part of her leisure time. Josephine is survived by her daughters Helena Deary of Manchester and Andrea Cupak of Vermont and her granddaughter Kristin Ferraioli of Oakland, CA. Funeral service for Josephine will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. Manchester on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 between the hours of 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Since Josephine supported the care of homeless and abused animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Protectors of Animals at info@poaspay.org.
