Obituary of Nancy J. Molloy
Nancy J. (Horan) Molloy, 76, of East Hartford, wife of the late Daniel J. Molloy, Jr., died on July 18, 2012. She was born on November 22, 1935 to the late John and Madeline (Quigley) Horan. She was raised in Hartford and resided in East Hartford for the last 47 years. Nancy had an incredibly strong will, which allowed her to overcome numerous obstacles throughout her life. In her younger years, she was both a student and teacher of dance, stories of which always made her smile. She was a generous woman of great faith and had a special devotion to St. Anthony. Nancy and Dan were very involved in the early years of Our Lady of Peace Church in East Hartford as the parish was forming. She helped coordinate the religious education program there and taught for 20 years, preparing second graders for their First Holy Communion. More recently, Nancy will be remembered as the friendly face at the Homestead Farm Dairy and the Director of St. Christopher's After School Program, which she credited for keeping her young. She was an avid reader, loved to garden, and enjoyed countless summers on the Cape. Nancy is survived by her children Daniel, Kathleen, and Beth, a sister Elizabeth Taute, a brother-in-law Richard Molloy, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Raymond Horan. Calling hours are Sunday July 22, 2012 from 2-4pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10:30am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford followed by burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank all those who offered prayer and support along the way, the staff of Glastonbury Health Care Center for their compassionate care, and in particular Kathi Henry and the entire Masonicare hospice team for bringing comfort in the final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Masonicare Partners Home Health and Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, East Hartford, CT 06108. For online condolences please visit www.tierneyfunerahome.com.
