Lancin F. "Lanny" Choate, 76, of Manchester CT, beloved husband of Stephanie (Buckley) Choate died on December 12, 2016 following a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Asbestosis. He was employed as a Production Supervisor for 27 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft before retiring in 1993. In addition to his wife, Lanny is survived by his daughter, Stacey (Choate) Helin, her husband Christopher and granddaughters Stephanie and Christina Helin all of Manchester. He is also survived by his siblings; Thomas Choate and wife Beverly of Houston, TX, Nancy Pelletier of Augusta, ME, LuAnne Choate Kone' of Oklahoma City, OK and Rodney Choate and his wife Laurie of Pittston, ME as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Lanny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and an avid Red Sox and UConn Huskies fan. He was fascinated with weather, enjoyed astronomy, caring for his yard and walking the beaches in Maine and Cape Cod, forever searching for the perfect walking stick. Since discovering a 1912 Official Edition of the book "Sinking of the Titanic" at a young age, now signed by Robert Ballard who discovered the wreck, he amassed quite a collection of Titanic books and memorabilia. But more than anything, Lanny enjoyed spending time watching his granddaughters at their soccer and basketball games.
