Nicola (Nick) Lippolis, 82, of Manchester CT passed away on December 13, 2016. Nicola was born in Noci (Bari) Italy on August 28, 1934. Nicola was married to Rosa (Addabbo) Lippolis on September 17, 1964; they were married for 54 years. He apprenticed as a cobbler under his father in Italy, then perfected his craft as an especially skilled shoe maker in a factory in Putignano, Italy, until he moved to the United States where he operated Nick's Shoe Service in Manchester for the last 47 years. He considered his shop to be his home away from home. He looked forward to interacting with his customers each day. His most cherished pastime was spending time with his family. There was nothing that he would not do for his family. He especially delighted in spending time with his granddaughters. Nicola is survived by his devoted wife Rosa, children Pasqua and Michael Guzzi and Domenico and Claire Lippolis, grandchildren Amanda Guzzi, Sara Guzzi, Francesca Lippolis, and Giuliana Lippolis of Manchester, CT and Laura Addabbo of Chesterfield, MA. He is also survived by his siblings Maria (Francesco) Dongiovanni, Eduardo (Margherita) Lippolis of Noci, Itay, Mario (Mariolina) Lippolis of Putignano, Italy and Elizabeth (Robert) Fleischer of Fairfield, CT. He is survived by his brothers-in-law Luca (Maria) Addabbo of Manchester, CT and Mario (Daphne) Addabbo of Chesterfield, MA. and his sisters-in-law Marisa Lippolis of Noci, Italy, Luciana Lippolis of Noci, Italy, Giulia Lippolis of Noci, Italy, Laura Carucci of Noci, Italy, Antonia Addabbo of Manchester, CT, Judi Addabbo of Manchester, CT, and countless nieces and nephews in both Italy and the United States. Nicola is preceded in death by his parents Domenico Lippolis and Pasqua Trisolini, his brothers Giovanni Lippolis, Andrea Lippolis, and Felice Lippolis of Italy and his brothers-in-law Pasquale Addabbo and Francesco Addabbo of Manchester, CT and Vincenzo Carucci of Noci, Italy. Visitation will be held from 4:00 -7:00 PM on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Saint James Church, 896 Main St. in Manchester, CT. A private burial will follow the funeral mass.
