Obituary of Rosario F. DeLeo

Rosario "Sal" DeLeo, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born January 1st, 1936 in Sicily, son of Mary (Greco) and Salvatore DeLeo. Shortly after his birth, Rosario's family relocated to New York City, where he met his late wife, Amelia (Barbitta) DeLeo. Rosario and Amelia were married on February 7th, 1955. After their marriage, they moved to Meriden, CT in 1957, eventually settling in Northford, CT. Rosario worked for 36 years at Pratt & Whitney, North Haven, starting at an entry level position in the tool crib. At the time of his retirement in 1992, he was the Chief of Quality Inspection for F100 Engines. Rosario's family was always his utmost pride and priority. He cherished the time that was spent together over the years, and especially anticipated the holidays when everyone would gather for dinner and simply take the time to be together. Most importantly, he instilled in us the value and joy that comes from being with family. Rosario leaves his son Salvatore and his wife Victoria of Manchester, CT; his son Michael and his wife Susan of Londonderry, NH; his grandchildren Randi, William, and Dominic; his great-granddaughter Lily; his brothers-in-law Vincent Barbitta and his wife Jean; Ralph Barbetta and his wife Jackie; his sister-in-law Marie Beltran, and his many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 27th from 12pm to 3pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St., Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
