Gioconda B. McGettigan, 96, of East Hartford, the wife of the late Arthur McGettigan died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Glastonbury Health Care Center. Born in Manchester, she had worked at G. Fox and Co. and as the secretary for her brother-in-law, William Diefenderfer at United Technologies. During World War II she worked with the Red Cross, where she was stationed in Italy. She is survived by her dear friend and neighbor Teresa Carmody of East Hartford. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Francesca Diefenderfer and her husband William. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St. East Hartford, CT followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester.
