Gary Martin, 53, of East Hartford formerly of Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Riverside Health and Rehab Center, East Hartford. He was born on April 11, 1955 in Rockville, son of the late Robert A. Martin and Jeannette Violette. Gary was an enthusiastic fan of the Red Sox, Buffalo Bills and UConn Basketball, a passion only exceeded by his genuine caring and concern for the people in his everyday life. Despite many challenges, he had a remarkable ability to rise above his own circumstances and share a youthful joy and sense of humor with others. Free spirited and compassionate, Gary affected many while being equally moved by the caring and support he received from those around him. He is survived by his daughter Lynette Lucas of Port Orange, FL, his brother Robert Martin and his wife Nancy of Sheldon Springs, VT, his sister Linda LaChapelle and her husband Frederick of Bolton and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Hospice, the nursing staff and CNA's on 2CD for their care and support. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
