Desire E. Rivard, 90, of East Hartford, the husband of the late Claire Y. Rivard died Wednesday January 28, 2009 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Desire had retired as the owner and operator of the Chapel Machine Company, South Windsor. A Purple Heart recipient, he was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his son Richard R. Rivard and his wife Bernadette of East Hartford, and his granddaughter Alisa D. Rivard of East Hartford. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (February 3rd) at 10:45 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 am at St. Mary Church 15 Maplewood Ave. East Hartford followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
