Francis R. Murray, 82, of Manchester the husband of Margery (Sheridan) Murray died Friday January 2, 2009 at his home. He was born in Hartford the son of Francis H. and Ruth (Hagarty) Murray, he graduated from Hilliard College and was the former CFO at Mal-Tool. He was US Army veteran serving in World War II. Frank was a longtime member of the Manchester Rotary Club and was a recipient of their Paul Harris Award. He was a founder and director of Manchester State Bank, a member and treasurer of both the Manchester Country Club and Army/Navy Club. He was a former treasurer of the Church of the Assumption, a member of the Board of Directors of Manchester Memorial Hospital and East Catholic High School and a former treasurer of Verplank School PTA. Besides his wife he is survived by his children and their spouses Kathleen and David Rizzo of Ellington, Timothy Murray and his wife Melissa Croghan of Simsbury, the Reverend John P. Murray, S.J. of Boston College, Elizabeth and Richard Ledbetter of Manchester, Joanne and Ford Sanborn of South Windsor, and Marcie and John Cavacas of South Windsor; his grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Amy, Joseph and Nora, Kate and Oliver, Anthea, Kyle, Mickey, Alexander, Heather, and Rob, and a great-grandson Connor. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Robert Murray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (January 5th) at 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street Manchester on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
